Snapshot photographs pertaining to Bivens family members and other African Americans in Texas and California, chiefly depicted
in domestic scenes and leisure outings. Identified individuals includes James Almaryne Bivens of Waco, Texas, who captioned
one photo "myself", and Myrtle Bivens ("Sis") of Oakland, Calif., each of whom are depicted in a few images. One image depicts
a "Mrs. F. Gilton" and is inscribed to "Mrs. Gilton and family. Hello Myrtle and Almaryne and Herman and Dime." Some photographs
are taken in San Francisco and elsewhere in California; others in Texas. Most individuals and locations are unidentified.
Includes a group portrait of African American Masons, and a view of the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas. Also includes a few
professional studio portraits of unidentified individuals and groups.
